BY PLANE

Fly to the Austrian Grand Prix!

There are several Austrian international airports where you can land. You can choose from Vienna, Salzburg, Linz, Klagenfurt, or Graz airports. Of course, you can also fly to nearby foreign cities, such as Bratislava.

By plane to Vienna

Vienna International Airport is undoubtedly the busiest airport in Austria.
There are many ways to get to the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg from Vienna Airport, and you can choose between train, bus, or taxi service.
The easiest is to take the train as it takes you to the Vienna Central Train Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof). There are usually 73 direct trains per day, travelling from Vienna Airport to Vienna Hbf. The journey only takes 16 minutes, and the tickets for this journey start from €4.20 when you book in advance. For the train timetable or to buy your ticket online, click here.
Once you get there, you take the train to Knittelfeld and enjoy a pleasant journey through the Austrian countryside.
You can check the schedules and buy your ticket online at ÖBB – the online shop for train tickets for the Austrian Federal Railways. Or, you can use Omio - the easy e-ticket booking system in more than twenty languages!

By plane to Salzburg

If you land at Salzburg Airport, the easiest and fastest way to get to Knittelfeld is to take the train. Unfortunately, there is no direct railway connection between Salzburg Airport and the Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (Salzburg Hbf), so the best way to reach the train station is by taking the city bus No. 2, which regularly goes every 10-20 minutes. The journey takes approx. 20 mins and the bus ticket price is approximately €2.50 for adults and €1.30 for children (up to 15 years). Tickets can be bought at the Newscorner in Salzburg Airport terminal, from the machine at the bus stop or directly from the driver.
Once you get to the Salzburg Hbf, take the direct train to Knittelfeld. The journey will take you approximately four and a half hours. The Knittelfeld train station is a stone's throw from Spielberg. To check the train schedules and buy your tickets online, click here.

By plane to Linz

If you arrive at Linz, get to the Linz Central Station (Linz Hbf) and take the train heading to St. Michael in Obersteiermark. Change there for the train going to Knittelfeld. The whole journey takes less than three hours. To get to St. Michael, you can also take a bus which is a bit cheaper. The buses leave from the bus stop called Linz Wissensturm.

By plane to Klagenfurt

Once you land at Klagenfurt Airport, take the hourly shuttle bus to the Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof (Klagenfurt Hbf). The journey will take you about 30 mins. At Klagenfurt Hbf, take the train heading to Knittelfeld. The train departs every three hours, and the journey is about an hour and a half long. A free shuttle bus will take you to the Red Bull Ring from Knittelfeld train station.

By plane to Graz

Once you land at Graz Airport, you should go to the train station. From there, it is less than an hour and a half drive to Knittelfeld. To get to the train station, you can take the bus, which stops in front of the airport hall. The price of one ride is €2.40. There is also a train available, which will take you to the train station for the same price. At the Graz Hauptbahnhof, change to the train going in the direction of Knittelfeld.
Once you arrive in Knittelfeld, a free shuttle bus will take you to the Red Bull Ring from Knittelfeld train station. Shuttle buses operate from Friday to Sunday during race weekend.
